Yorkshire Dales Holiday
1-8 June 2007

Following the success of last year’s holiday, members of the group once again went up to Yorkshire for a week walking in the Dales.   We stayed at the ‘Rose and Crown’ in Bainbridge and our party of 22 filled the pub. Bainbridge is an attractive and unspoilt village in Wensleydale with a large green overlooked by the Rose and Crown at it’s Northern end. The scene was enlivened for part of the week by a group of Gypsies on the green with their horses and assorted exotic vehicles. They moved on midweek on their way to the Appleby Horse Fair.   The weather was good and considering what went before and was to come after we were extremely lucky.   The walks explored Wensleydale, Swaledale and Dentdale and on most days there were two, one full day and one half day.We came across a splendid old pub at Hardraw, near Hawes, called the Griffin Inn which I think Mickey has his eye on for next year.   The holiday was a great success and our thanks go to Mickey Doyle, who organised it, and to those who led the walks.
